Installation
on the Parking Sensors
|
|
This
manual is intended to explain the safe and
correct use of the product. Please read this
manual carefully before
use.
|
|
|
|
With
two ultrasonic sensors, the sensors sense the distance
from the right, left, rear and indicates
the distance viaLED digits (0.4m~1.6m ;
1.3ft~5.4ft) & left & right and
also by four stages of warningsignals(beep
sounds) which helps the driver while backing
the vehicle.
|
|
|
|
Product
Overview |
|
The
Parking Sensor helps the driver view the
rear of the vehicle. It helps prevent
collisions andaccidents during any backward
movement of the vehicle. If there is an
obstacle at the rear of thecar, the alarm
inside the vehicle displays the distance
to the obstacle and generates a signalproportional
to it.
|
|
|
|
Features
of the Product
|
|
-
Enables safe backward movement by detecting
obstacles in the rear. - Insures a safe
distance in the event of snow, rain, frost
or fog. - Insures a safe distance between
an obstacle and the rear of the vehicle
while parking and stopping. - Easily
installed and semi-permanent.- Good sensor
designs which matches the vehicle. -
Displays the distance to the obstacle from
the back of the vehicle while backing-up
within 0.4m(1.3ft). - Informs the driver
of the proximity of obstacles on the left
and right sides of the vehicle. - Generates
a four-level alarm signal depending on the
distance to the obstacle
|
|
|
|
Method
of Operation
|
|
The Parking Sensor beeps and the
distance meter displays as "0.0"
as soon as you engage thereverse gear. An
alarm is generated if an obstacle is detected
within the first-level detection area(within
1.6m: 5.4ft), and the distance meter displays
the distance to the obstacle. The alarmchanges
as the obstacle approaches the second-level
(within 1.0m: 3.0ft) and third-level (within0.6m:
1.6ft) detection area. When the obstacle
is within 0.4m(1.3ft), a continuous alarm
isgenerated. If the driver does not hear
the alarm due to noise or weak hearing ability,
thedistance meter and the left/right lamps
indicate the proximity of the obstacle. |

Installation
|

|
Connecting
the parking system to the ModooFree
Plus BT Install
the control box at the left
or right sides
of the rear seat beyond the reach of passengers'
hands. Pull the main
cable out of the windshield
or pedal and connect it
to the control box.
Connect the sensor cable and
the power cable
to the control box.
Use the cable-tie to organize
the loose cables. |

Installation
of Sensors
|
Organizing
the Sensor Cable (two ways) |
|
After attaching
the sensor, attach the mount
to the trunk and fix the sensor
cable with the cable tie. Then,
pull the sensor cable to one
side of the trunk and put it
in the control box.
|
|
|
|
|
Installed Exterior of the Attach-Type Sensors
(two ways) |

|
Apply the Two-sided
tape to the sensor attachment.
Attach the sensor to the trunk
or rear lights at about 50-80cm(20"-32")
(normally 60cm(23.5"))
from the center of the car. ※ Caution :
The sensor may be positioned upside
down. |
|
|
|
Connecting the Power Cable |
|

|
Connect
the power cable. Generally,
black cables are (-) in vehicles. In the case
of the ModooFree Plus BT Cable,
do not peel off the cable - covering
connect it using a line connector.
※ Caution
- Beware of the (±) polarity.

|
|
|
|
Attaching the Main Unit
|
|

|
|
For the
location in picture, reverse the bracket,
and use the bolts to fix it beside the standard
rearview mirror.
|
|
Note
: Install
the MHF-R330BT display in the proper place
for the driver. Refer to the above
picture for the recommended
installation location.
|
|
|
|
Control Box
|
|
Mount the control box on the side of
the trunk with bolts.
|
|
Note : The
control box is not waterproof. Therefore,
exposure water and moisture should be avoided.
Do
not install it on a metal surface.

☞ Attaching to Other Types
of Vehicles (For trucks and tow trucks)
|
>
It is better to arrange the cables along
the left side of the frame (by the driver's
seat). >
Make certain that water cannot contact the
sensor while driving. >
The main cable should be long enough to
compensate for the contours of the driver's
seat. >
The main cable should be kept away from
the engine, if possible.
|
Bracket Attachment |
|

|
Bore
two holes on the
left and right sides
with a drill, so
that the bracket
can be fixed with
screws. |
|
|

|
Attach
at the center for
a 1-ton truck, and
at the rear gutter
for a larger truck.

Connection
of Power Cable to The Reverse Light
|
|
Open the reverse light signal lamp, and
find the light wires. In general, a red
wire is positive and black one is negative.
Use the line connector to connect the positive
wire of the reverse light to the red power
cable, and the negative wire of the reverse
light to the black power cable.
|
|
|
|

|
|
① Line connector ②
Insert the positive (or negative) wire of
the reverse light through the outside hole
of the line connector. Press
the metal connector down gently. ③ Insert
the positive (or negative) power line into
the inside hole (blocked side). Press the
metal connector down. ④ Press the metal
connector down fully with pliers. ⑤
Cover the line connector.

|
Operating
Test
|
|
Release
the hand brake and turn the
car on without starting
the engine. Put the gear
in reverse, and check the performance
of the sensors in the starting
step. When turning on the car,
check for unusual signals after
the “Ξ.Ξ” display. Approach
an object and verify whether
the detectors sense it.
If they do, start the
engine.
|

|
|
Stop
the car at the point where the
alarm sound changes, reversing
slowly (less than 5km/hr.). Get
out and check the distance from
the object in person. (Test
with walls or other vehicles,
avoiding highly sound absorbent
objects for better detection.)

* In case of any problems, refer
to the troubleshooting guide.

Note
: The detectors’
measuring of the direct distance may cause
create a discrepancy between the displayed
distance
and the actual distance from a vehicle to
an object. Incorrect
readings can be caused by unusual circumstances.

|
Caution
|
|
Avoid the below
situations which may result in malfunction. 1.
Undetectable objects : Thin objects like
wire, rope, lines, wire entanglements and
so on. Supersonic
wave absorbers like cotton, sponge, snow
and so on. 2. Factors that may cause
incorrect readings. -
Reversing on uneven or gravel roads, hills,
sidewalks or in forests. -
Frost on the sensors. -
Snow or soil covering the surface of the
sensors. -
Strong electrical fields around the car.
- Raindrops.
The
reverse speed of vehicle must be less than
5km/h for safety. Do not be over-reliant
on this device. This is only a supporting
device for driving safety, check with your
eyes first.

Troubleshooting
|
|
Trouble
|
Solution
|
|
No
image is displayed on
the rearview mirror when
the gear is put in reverse
|
There
is no power supply. 1.
Check that the power cable
is connected to the control
box properly. 2. Check
the line connection of the
reverse light and the detectors. 3.
Check the reverse light
itself. 4. Check the
cable connection of the
display and the control
box.
|
|
It
doesn’t sense an object
|
-
Check the wire connection
of the sensors. (Check
error message in the starting
step.) - Check the detection
zone. - Check the angle
adjustment of the sensors. -
Check whether anything is
covering the sensors. -
Check the voltage of the
reverse lights. (Must be
at least 10V)
|
|
A
number appears on the
display when there is
no object
|
-
Check the angle adjustment
of the sensors. - Check
whether anything is covering
the sensors. - Check
for strong electrical fields
in the vicinity. - Check
whether the vehicle is producing
noise. (If
it is, change the location
of the control box)
